My name is Gail Sears. I’m Mikes’ stepmom, and I’ve been in the medical field as a Registered Medical Assistant for 25 years. I have a lot of fond memories of Mike, and his relationship with his Dad. They were hilarious together, and their bond was very strong. I enjoyed watching them interact together and we shared many great times. It’s hard to sum up in a short paragraph a story of Mike, however, I’d like to share with you how kindhearted, thoughtful, sensitive, and caring he was to all. Always respectable and willing to help in anyway he could. The story I’d like to share is how I witnessed his transformation into becoming as he would say a SOAK, Son Of A King. Mikes’ journey to getting to know the Lord better inspired me. I watched him despite the weather make his way to church, bible study and any other event they may be having and never complain. There were many times he had no transportation but would take multiple buses to get there. From this our conversations changed. We talked more about the Lord. When I moved into my new home we walked throughout the house praying. It was when we got to the second floor that Mike prayed and it was powerful. That will forever stay with me. In that moment I realized how he truly had become a SOAK.
