Welcome family and friends of Mike George, and thank you for taking part in immortalizing not only Mike’s memory, but also his work and his character. Mike was a special person not only to those who knew him best or longest, but anyone who came across him at all. He was caring, friendly, polite, insightful, honorable and trustworthy. He exhibited character traits that not only made him a great person but inspired others to be great people as well. There was never a situation he encountered that he was too busy to help with or give attention to. That help may have come in kind words, a listening ear, a helping hand or sound advice to apply to your situation, whatever that may have been. He wouldn’t offer advice if you didn’t ask, but if you asked, he always had advice to offer.
Mike had a gift to make people feel better about themselves and every conversation ended with love, optimism and warmth. You never had to guess which side Mike was on, he was on yours. That doesn’t mean he agreed with you, it means he supported you. That was Mike’s mission, to support people, not just those he knew but people who were vulnerable…period. Mike had a special quality to turn strangers into friends and friends into family. Ask those he grew up with and they will refer to him as brother, something that shows that Mike valued bond over blood. If you knew Mike you were family and he made it his mission to treat you as such.
That is why we chose Mike George Mission as the name of the foundation, because that spirit that was inside of him lives on through each of us that were touched by him. Our goal as a foundation is his goal as a person, to help whoever we can, however we can. So we ask you to join us and help to complete Mike’s Mission through our various charitable events and givebacks. Help us to help others in Mike’s name and extend the spirit that he was so known and loved for. Thank you.
